Back in September…

We had a huge week back in September for planting and forest restoration! Alex from AgriDrone came to trial some targeted vine spraying amongst our establishing permanent forest. The NZ Institute of Forestry field trip came for a tour of Silvan and Kingsland to check out the strategy and progress with our transition from Radiata.

The legends from Gibbons Naylor also came out for a volunteer planting day, bringing along a bunch of trees donated by Appletons Nursery.

Lots of spring activity in the forest...

- September Trail Update -

We've been addressing some trail issues recently. The lower section of Jericho got a good tidy-up, including some drainage work. Crank Yanker also had a makeover, with the boney lower corners on the main spur reshaped and drainage improved.

Then there's the G5 Creek trail. Sometimes, trail features take up a crazy amount of time and manpower. Case in point: the Corolla Roller. A Corolla was dumped off the side of the road almost three years ago. The Richmond Hill Trail Carvers decided to move it and use it as a trail feature—talk about recycling! The Corolla Roller is now a unique part of the trail, with a cool story behind its creation.
